TOPSEA Swimwear was established in 2020 as a fun way for children to explore and respect the environment whilst sporting bright and unique prints. All our artwork represents important animals in the marine ecosystem that need and deserve protecting.
It has taken a long time to design and perfect each print to stand out on REPREVE fabric, which is made from recycled PET. This material is sourced from used plastic bottles which have been washed, melted into pellets and then spun into fibres. This is then combined with a small amount of spandex for stretch and hey presto, you have a swimsuit made from recycled materials.
Although this reduces the amount of plastic bottles (which cannot be recycled into new bottles) and it prolongs the life cycle of the PET, we cannot completely eliminate it and the cycle will continue unless we reduce the amount of plastic used in our daily lives. This is why we do not create any new plastic waste in our production including our hang tags which are 100% recycled card and hemp, and out packaging which is made from cornstarch and is 100% biodegradable.
